Electricity is very important, Water is Essential

Few people realize that 20% of the cost of a fossil fuel power plant is the water treatment component. We realized this many, many years ago and have always expanded that to 21% of the cost. This extra 1% has allowed us to lower our water consumption, but more importantly, it has allowed us to make potable water available for nearby towns, cities and villages. Further, by combining this with waste heat optimization we have been able to produce ice for local fishermen at a fraction of the normal cost.

In discussions of the Energy Water nexus, it is clear that electricity is essential to modern water processing and that water is essential to the operation of nearly all of the major generation facilities, for a variety of uses.

We have gone much further. We are currently finding ways to use water as a tool for utilizing random energy from wind power to desalinate, clean, pump and store water. By combining wind generation overages with compatible water processes, we are able to reduce the cost of clean water AND increase the net captured value of wind energy

The implications of this method of making water and energy complementary instead of purely co-dependent is a notion that can change the world.
